What Expert Says About Rhinoplasty Nose Job

'What Expert Says About Rhinoplasty Nose Job'

Dr. William Portuese (Seattle Facial Plastic Surgery Center)
We do not recommend irradiated rib cartilage because of the resorption that occurs with the material. Fibrous tissue will not be enough to compensate for volume and strength loss for supporting function of the tip.

Dr. Otto Joseph Placik (Chicago Plastic Surgery Center)
The obvious benefit of using the cartilage from a tissue bank is that no donor site is required. The problem is that your body may absorb it.

Dr. Richard W. Fleming (Beverly Hills Institute of Aesthetic & Reconstructive Surgery)
Irradiated cadaver cartilage is safe but the problem with absorption will vary depending on your surgeon's source of that cartilage. After 35 years of doing revision rhinoplasty I have used all these materials and now prefer to use the patient's own cartilage from the septum, ears, or rib.
